Layered color tones and worn surfaces distinguish these distressed journal backgrounds from plain writing paper. Subtle grunge effects and aged-paper styling create a vintage foundation with visual depth, keeping the emphasis on texture and tonal variation rather than detailed figures or a specific illustrated scene.
Use the distressed backgrounds beneath collected ephemera in a junk journal, cut sections for scrapbook photograph mats, or tear the paper into layers for a grunge-inspired card front.
