Burn marks, holes, and torn-looking edges give these paper backgrounds their dramatic distressed character. Vintage-style surfaces and aged textures suggest heavily weathered documents, making the visual damage part of the design rather than presenting a smooth, untouched journal sheet.
Build a grunge junk journal spread, place a scrapbook story against the weathered background, or use a burned-looking section in an altered-book collage. Leave selected damaged details visible around your own additions to maintain the distressed character.
